Minutes from this meeting

Events have been scheduled

  • Park clean up: April 28th (if interested in helping, clean up usually starts at 9am and goes until around noon, lunch is provided, if you have youth, church or work groups that would like to participate contact us)
  • Garage Sales: June 22-24th
  • Neighborhood Picnic: June 16th

The Recreation Area is in the process of having a canoe launch installed along the river.

The Adopt a Park Program – we are hoping to have some new equipment installed this year, new swings and also some of the brush removed from around the tennis courts.

Neat Street is the program where neighbors pick up litter along our streets. If you are interested let us know, we can get you grabbers, gloves, and pails.

Trash Brigade looking for volunteers to empty the trash cans.

Newsletters are at the printers and will be distributed to the residency when they are available.

Mott Park Dues are due at the beginning of the year, you can send payment, bring payment to the meetings or visit the website and pay online. Dues are $15 per household and get you a free service listing in our newsletters and also voting privileges during elections.

Jameca Singleton from the City of Flint Recovery was in attendance and states that you can contact her with any questions about pipe replacement or follow-up. Email jpatrick-singleton@cityofflint.com or call 810-237-2006.

Candace Michete(sp?) is now part of the city administration to help with resident communications. They are trying to do informative meetings for residents, find out who the community members trust in the local government, and work on ways to get information out to the residents better. They will be doing city newsletters sent to residents via email. They are recommending to continue to get your water tested.

Water distribution is still ongoing at all current locations, there has been no date given for closing any of the sites, that will be determined by the state. The City of Flint Administration is working and fighting to make sure that all the pods stay open with distribution until all the pipes have been replaced and water tests are good. Replacement filters for sink faucets are available at city hall; you must call Core to get the pitcher filters – 810-238-6700. Habitat for Humanity has shower filters available.

Erin Caudill from Edible Flint also came and gave us information about all their programs they have going on.

  • Garden Starter Kits
  • They have Garden classes that residents can sign up for, to learn how to grow organic food in an urban setting.
  • They also have garden tour sign ups – if you have a garden and want to be a part of the garden tour, contact them.
  • They have classes that teach you about growing food to sell.
  • There is a Urban Garden across from Hurley that gardeners are out usually every Saturday and residents are more than welcome to join them and learn about urban gardens.

Flint Fresh is a mobile food delivery service, they deliver food boxes to homes with fresh food from local farmers. They will also have a truck selling local grown food. They are hoping to be able to get into the local schools so that our children will have access to fresh local grown food.
