FLINT (WJRT) – (03/01/16) – A local university has announced a unique way of attracting new neighbors.
Flint’s Kettering University is offering employees a $15,000 loan to buy a home in one of the neighborhoods near campus.
The nearly 500 employees can move into either Mott park, Glendale Hills or Carriage Town to take advantage of the program.
Kettering President Dr. Robert McMahan says the university is committed to making the city a better place.
“Community vitality and our engagement in the community is a core element of our mission. And part of community vitality is understanding that what our university does can have a very positive effect on the vitality and livability of the communities around us,” he said.
Employees who already live in the neighborhoods can also take advantage of a loan of $5,000 for exterior improvements to their homes.
